“I felt compelled to start writing after a series of events led me to examine my own sub-conscious a little more closely and to incorporate within my characters, traits and characteristics drawn from other rare birds I’d met around the world.”

David Zaccheus has published two books:

Playing For Keeps

Playing For Keeps is a character based novel in the mind/body/spirit genre, set around Byron Bay, at the Easternmost part of the Australian mainland. Each character is different by nature, but nevertheless drawn to the same town ,and into a plot which exposes them to the actions and reactions of their peers, and to the greatest challenge of all ; the overcoming of their own inner conflicts.

Each character, in reaching for something different, is mirrored by their various reflections upon the one steadying influence ; the source of light, the edifice of light, the lighthouse. To each, in its own way, the Byron Bay lighthouse symbolises truth ; but it also seems to acknowledge its own journey of self discovery, in adopting and personifying the imagination of its observers.

Oddfellow

“From as old as I was to know what death was, I new I could lose my Dad at any time. So I knew I was different. I knew I would have to bury him one day. I just hoped that day wouldn’t be too soon.”

The extraordinary tale of Oddfellow, a legend in his own lunchtime ; from disabled war veteran to entrepreneur businessman, civic leader, pyramidologist, globetrotter, self-made millionaire, and inspiration behind…a son’s perspective on conflict

The true story of David’s roller-coaster upbringing by, and the early demise of, his disabled war veteran father ; portraying the inter-generational pain of a distant war on the psyche of a young boy, otherwise considered to have been raised in one of the most peaceful countries on the planet:

“I guess I’m a rare bird too. I march to the beat of my own conundrum.”
