Ron Curran

“Hi Zac – We just had a browse through your images.  I think this is some of the most refreshing, original and powerful work I have seen in a long time. There is such a strong signature running through all of them. The images show such a strong narrative consistently and the way you have just distilled the components of your storytelling to an essense is really quite striking.

“These are great, Zac.  It’s kind of like you’ve really found a pathway through here and discovered your primary visual energies that drive the work…it is a unique narrative…it is both whimsical, raw and very poetic.

“I’m really quite touched by what you’ve put up here and particularly, there is such a variety of perspective in your narratives…you maintain a very original approach in almost every one of these.

“It’s that kind of essense I’m just talking about that so few people are able to access but that, as a drawing facilitator, I recognise in your work.

“What it does mean is that your work is more or less coming directly from your sensibility and that makes it very recognisable and vivid.

“It is so pleasing to witness your ability, to juggle so many different aspects of your experience and, at the same time, keep your sense of humour and insightful sense of absurdity.

“I really enjoyed looking at these images, particularly because so much of the work I see around these days is derived or recognisably poached.

“When I see original work, it really gives me a lift because I rarely actually see it!

“The other thing in your work is you cover a lot of ground in terms of your experience and you never lean on your own descriptions – you are prepared to look at each new idea in a unique way.

“Fantastic Zac, thank you so much.”
